Marianne was born in Lynn, MA on August 20, 1937, to Stanley J. and Mary Pawlowski (Maciak). She was raised in Lynn and attended Lynn Schools, graduating from Lynn Classical High School in 1954. Marianne went on to study at Burdett College, where upon graduation, she began working as a clerk in the Collectors Office at Lynn City Hall for many years. It was there she was introduced to Stanley Boris who would later become her husband. Marianne and Stan were married in April of 1968 at St. Michaels Church in Lynn.
Marianne was a bookkeeper by trade and had an amazing attention to detail. She spent many years in that capacity working at Sullivan’s Curtain Shop and then at Meninno Construction Co., where she retired from in 2004. She had been a proud and active board member of many Lynn-based organizations over the years including Santa’s Helping Hands, Inc., The League of Women Voters and the St. Pius V Ladies Sodality. She also had been a part of her high school reunion planning committee since her graduation and had always looked forward to organizing those gatherings and keeping those connections with former classmates over the years. She enjoyed crafting, painting, knitting, and needlework. She had a wonderful talent for creating, decorating, and design and was proud to use those talents to make a beautiful home for her family. Marianne was also a wonderful cook and delighted in making special meals and trying new recipes. She enjoyed gardening and flower arranging, most especially at this time of year when her Dahlias were in full bloom. She was an avid reader of whodunits and loved classic movies. She had a wicked sense of humor and was a joy to laugh and joke with, often keeping running jokes with old friends that went on for years. She enjoyed shopping to the utmost and was a collector/curator of many items which brought her joy, but her greatest joy by far was her family. She was a gentle, loving, supportive, and encouraging wife and mom each and every day.
Her loss is immeasurable. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her during her long and beautiful lifetime.
In addition to her husband Stanley E. Boris, Marianne is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Boris of Salem; her sister Judith Granese (Pawlowski) of Lynn; her brother Richard Pawlowski and sister-in-law, Susan of Newburyport; her nephew Dean Pawlowski, his wife Amanda, and their daughters Lilah and Chloe of North Carolina; her brother-in-law, Robert E. Boris of Florida, as well as many loving cousins, and many dear life-long friends. Marianne was pre-deceased by her parents Stanley J. and Mary Pawlowski; by her husband’s parents, Stanley H. and Emilie Boris; and by her brother-in-law, Ralph Granese.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, from 2:00-4:00PM followed by a memorial service at 4:00PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904.
