

Born in Lynn, Mark was the son of the late Raymond “Ken” and Barbara P. (Moran) Hammond. He attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1965. He later attended Fitchburg State College and Salem State College. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
Mark was an industrial arts teacher at the Lynn Vocational Technical High School for over 15 years, previously teaching industrial arts at the Cobbett Jr. High School and Breed Jr. High School.
He participated in martial arts at Shodokan Dojo in Salem. He also enjoyed kayaking and gardening.
He leaves his children, Kara Hammond and her husband Glen Witwicki of Beverly and Benjamin Hammond of Gloucester. He was the brother of Maryann Colbert and her husband Steven of Peabody. Also survived by his grandchildren, Jonathan, Mikheala, Brian and Alexandra Hammond as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Nancy A. Wescott and Christine M. Hammond.
Mark’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by a Memorial Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Spring St. Cemetery, Essex. Memorial Visitation Monday from 4-7PM.
