

Mildred E. Simpson, age 98, of Peabody, died Tuesday February 4th at Sunrise at Gardner Park in Peabody after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Kenneth E. Simpson, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Lothrop) Pitcher. Millie attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1944. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn Congregational for over 81 years where she also sang in the choir. She was a long time member of Gannon Golf Course and won the Ladies Club Champion 6 times. She was a member of the GLCAA Bowling League for over 75 years. Millie was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed doing puzzles, knitting and playing cards. She loved spending time with her family and adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters Jane E. Meehan of Peabody, Joanne E. Simpson of Peabody, four grandchildren Kenneth and his wife Diane Meehan of Chelmsford, Sarah and her husband Robert Jones of East Hartford, CT, Amanda Meehan and her companion Corey Smith Santa Monica, CA, Katie and her husband Stephen Laferriere of Los Angeles, CA, 9 great children Eliana Lantheaume, Isla Meehan-Smith, Madelyn Meehan, Andrew Jones, Louis Meehan-Smith, Liora Meehan, Elizabeth Jones, Killian Laferriere and Parker Laferriere. She was also the sister of the late Allan Pitcher.
Service Details: Mildred’s visiting hours will be held at the Parker Funeral on Saturday Feb. 8th from 9:30 – 11:30 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private. Please make memorial donations in Mildred’s name the Alzheimer’s Association.
