Nancy Louise Walsh

A lifelong learner and dedicated professional, Nancy was a recipient of the prestigious Virginia N. Johnson Scholarship to Radcliffe College and graduated with the Harvard Class of 1958. Throughout her career, she worked in health education and medical records at several Boston hospitals, including Boston Children's Hospital, Kennedy Memorial Hospital (now Franciscan Children's), and Boston City Hospital. She later devoted herself to work in medicine, law, and education.

A woman of deep faith and compassion, Nancy was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Swampscott and a devoted friend of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. She was also a grateful Friend of Bill W. for 54 years, quietly living a life of service, humility, and hope.

Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Stephen M. and Helen C. Walsh of Lynn, sister of the late James D. Walsh of Lynn and Stephen R. Walsh of Swampscott. She is survived by her niece, Sarah Walsh-Cummings of Ipswich, and her five nephews: John Walsh of Salem, Robert Walsh, Thomas Walsh, Peter Walsh, and Stephen Walsh. She is also survived by numerous cousins from the Walsh, Shanahan, McSweeney, and Breslow families.

Nancy believed that "loving is so much more important than being loved. Some people reciprocate in so far as they can. They have no gift for loving. Their gift is for being loved." Those words reflected the generosity and grace with which she lived her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. A memorial visitation will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 10 - 11 AM. A memorial service will follow immediately at 11 AM. Inurnment will be private at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lynn.
