

Born in Lynn to George and Emma (O'Connor) Winter, Norma was a lifelong resident of the city she loved. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold "Skip" Hayes, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Norma devoted her life to her family, her community, and serving others. After raising her children, she worked as a Unit Secretary at Union Hospital and later as a clerk for the City of Lynn's Department of Public Works in the Water and Sewer Department.
Norma attended Lynn Schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1950. She was proud to be a LEHS Alumni and an enthusiastic Bulldog.
Norma was active in many community organizations throughout her life. She served as a Girl Scout leader, was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and the Shoe City Lions, and was a founding member of the Lynn Retirees Association. She was also a member of the LEHS Alumni Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela "Penny" Morse, and son-in-law, Paul Morse; her grandsons, Jonathan Morse and his wife, Candice, Patrick Morse and his wife, Eileen, and Matthew Morse and his wife, Ingrid; her seven beloved great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Theresa (Hayes) Martley; her sister, Corinne McGrane; her sister-in-law, Maureen Lee; her nephew, Frank Lee; and her niece, Karen (McGrane) Hodge.
Norma’s family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude for the exceptional care she received at Seasons of Danvers. The kindness and compassion she received made a lasting impact on her last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma's memory may be made to My Brother's Table or Friends of the Nahant Council on Aging.
A visitation will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn, on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Willow Cemetery, Summer Street, Lynnfield.
