Born in Brighton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Earle F. and Alice (Cuffe) Campbell. She graduated from Rosary Academy, Watertown, Class of 1958. Patty then received her R.N. from Quincy City Hospital in 1961.
Patty worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for 8 years, then 8 years at an obstetricians office in Newton, and finally in the Labor and Delivery Dept. at Mt. Auburn Hospital until her retirement in 2005. During her tenure at Mt. Auburn she became a trusted bereavement specialist and helped grieving parents through difficult times. She loved her work helping to deliver babies and was never happier then when she was able to be there when her niece was born.
She had a great sense of humor and mischievous side that endeared her to colleagues and family alike. She was a great knitter and crocheter, making a variety of things as gifts and donations. She loved to travel and had gone to Ireland more than once to see family that still lived there. In addition, she traveled to Switzerland and Bermuda, but her favorite place was Wells Beach Maine where the family had been vacationing for over 100 years.
She loved to go to craft shows and shop on QVC and her penchant for “sets of” items guaranteed that if she was giving you a present, several others were getting the same thing.
She moved to Schenectady in 2017 to be nearer to family and though she would often say “my heart will always be in Massachusetts”, she made the best of the situation and made friends with staff and residents very easily; she especially enjoyed being a Boston sports fan in New York and the friendly “ribbing” she would give and receive.
Patty leaves a niece Kathleen M. Campbell of Halfmoon, NY, a nephew Christopher Campbell and his wife Lisa and their sons Devin and Sean all of Webster, MA as well as her sister-in-law Muriel L. Campbell. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother E. Thomas Campbell. She also leaves many cousins and friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Kingsway Manor Assisted Living as well as Kingsway Arms Nursing Center for their love, support and care.
