It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Patricia (Pat) Melanson, a lifelong Lynn resident, on March 7, 2025, at the age of 71. Pat passed unexpectedly while on a cruise, and we take comfort in knowing that she did not experience pain in her final moments.
Pat leaves behind the love of her life and beloved husband, Thomas Melanson. She was the loving mother of Rachael Flurry and her husband Jim of Templeton, and Brian Melanson and his wife Katie of Lynn. She was also the proud and adoring Grammy to Emma and Alex Flurry, and Matthew, Lily, and Nathan Melanson.
Pat’s life was dedicated to educating children. After graduating from University of Massachusetts, Boston, she began her career teaching preschool. She became the co-owner of Busy Bee Nursery School, where she shaped young minds for over 30 years. Later, she worked as a preschool teacher at the Reading YMCA. Most recently, Pat served as a paraprofessional with Lynn Public Schools, a position she held until her retirement this past June. Pat’s kindness, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her work touched the lives of countless families in Lynn and beyond.
In addition to her passion for teaching, Pat was a beloved friend to many. She shared lifelong friendships but, along with Tom, made new friends everywhere they went. Pat found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was enjoying the beach, sipping a cup of tea or a glass of wine, completing a crossword puzzle. We take comfort in knowing she is now enjoying all the things she loved in heaven.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Helen Marks, and her sister, Deborah Marks. She is survived by her sister Betty Ann Rice and her husband Stan, Robert Marks and his wife Laverne, Ronald Marks and his wife Leslie, Robert Melanson and his wife Julie. Pat also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless friends.
Memorial visiting hours will be held at the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St., Lynn, on Friday, March 21st, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Pat’s name to the American Heart Association.
