

Born in Hyannis, Paul was the son of the late Vincent and Lydia (Souza) Protz of Lynn. He was the devoted father of Lisa and her husband Derek Banker, Todd and his wife Ruthie (Rawding) Protz, Craig Protz and his fiancé Jeannine White, Mary and her husband John Mills, Leanne Welch, and Thomas Briggs. He was the brother of Keith Protz and his fiancé Susan Behen and Patricia Campbell. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Paul grew up in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Trade High School. He was a skilled machinist at Champion Lamp/Norelco/Phillips Lighting in Lynn for many years before they closed. He then went on to work at NutraMax in Gloucester until his retirement. He was a dedicated member of the Strokers Car Club and spent many hours in his garage building cars with a lot of lifelong friends. He spent many weekends in the summer at his house on Cape Cod and enjoyed his time on their boat. He loved to attend his grandchildren’s baseball games and birthday parties. He was a great guy, and he will be missed by many.
Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 11:00 am in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut Street, Lynnfield. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
