LYNN – Paul R. Linke, 81, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away on Tuesday, March 19th at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers. Paul was the beloved husband of Patricia R. (Crowley) Linke with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn he was the son of the late Herman E. and Hulda (Pearson) Linke. Paul attended the Highland School and Lynn English High School and went on to receive his electrical license from Wentworth Institute in Boston. Paul served in the U.S. Navy and served on the destroyer escort, USS Johnnie Hutchins and did tours of Cuba and Argentia, Newfoundland. Paul was a baseball buff and played with the Lynn Police Athletic League in his teens and also umpired for East Lynn Little League in the 80’s. He loved the Red Sox and Yankees and always cheered them on. Paul was employed with GE and Ametek for 27 years and also worked for North Shore Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.
Paul enjoyed walking, golfing, a good cup of hot coffee, spending time with family, and wintering in Ft. Myers, FL. He enjoyed traveling to many places with his wife, especially to Aruba, Ireland, England, and Alaska. He was a member of the Senior Golf League at the Hillview Country Club in Reading. An active member of Holy Family Parish, he worked on the Festa Committee (Best Meatballs in Town) and was a member of its St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference.
Anyone who knew Paul well, especially his family members, will always remember not only his collections of shoes and electric razors, but also his rather extensive collection of coffee pots. Most of all, Paul will be remembered for his love of family. He so enjoyed attending all the sporting events and milestone occasions of his children and grandchildren. He was a best friend, a loving husband, deeply caring father, and supportive grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
Paul was the loving father of Paul R. Linke, Jr. (They shared the same birthday!), and his wife, Jennifer (Drivas) of Groveland, Christine Morrell of Haverhill and her former husband, Paul, and Kathryn Cabral and her husband, Emanuel “Manny” of Nashua, NH; the cherished grandfather of Benjamin, Abigail and the late twins, Matthew and Nathaniel Linke, Katelyn, Erin and Lindsay Morrell, and Krystal, Kari and Jessica Cabral; the last and youngest dear brother of the late, Richard Linke and his wife Helena, Herman Linke and his wife, Gerry, Thelma Connolly and her husband Robert, and Laura Linke; the brother-in-law of the late John F. Crowley and his surviving wife, Kathy Crowley of Houston, TX; the uncle of Jonathan Connolly of Laconia, Lance Linke of Salisbury, Dymphna (Crowley) Copley and Frances (Crowley) Sharp of Houston, TX; the late Robert Connolly, Jr.; several grand nieces and grand-nephews, special cousins George and Dahlia Dunn of Lynn and childhood friends, Frank and Peggy Noble of Burlington.
Visiting hours will be held at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Sunday, March 24th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday, March 25th, at 10:00 a.m followed at 11:00 a.m. by a Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church, Lynn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
