

Mrs. S. Margaret “Peggy” (LaRose) Hines, age 79, died Friday evening at Union Hospital surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late John “Jack” J. Hines with whom she shared 42 years of marriage.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Peggy was the daughter of the late Hermond L. and Frances (Dawes) LaRose. She was raised and educated in Lawrence and resided in Lynn for most of her life.
While raising her children, she worked part-time for Boyd’s Potato Chips in Lynn. She then began her career at St. Jean’s Credit Union. Prior to her retirement, Peggy held the position of Assistant Vice President of Collections for St. Jean’s Credit Union. She was a dedicated employee who worked tirelessly for the benefit of the credit union and its members.
Peggy enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading and doing for others, especially cooking. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends.
According to Peggy, her greatest achievement in life was her three children. She leaves her devoted daughters, Kathleen D. Donahue and her husband William of Lynn and Pamela M. Kennedy and her husband Eric of Pittsfield, Maine. She was predeceased by her devoted son, Michael J. Hines. Peggy treasured the relationship that she shared with her three sisters. She was the loving sister of Rose Marie April and her husband Robert of Amesbury. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Frances Marrin and Mildred Doucette. Peggy is also survived by her daughter in law, Kathryn MacDonald Hines, her sister in law Phyllis Burke and her brothers in law Anthony Puzar and Henry Marrin. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren who loved her so much, Jeffrey, Timothy, Colleen Donahue, Jessica Kennedy and Erin Hines. She loved being called “Other Grammy” by her great grandchildren, who brought her so much joy and happiness. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and her many treasured friends.
A Funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating her life in St. Pius V Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8PM. Gifts in Peggy’s memory may be sent to the Salvation Army 1 Franklin St. Lynn, MA 01902.
