
Born in Peckville, PA, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Belle C. (Edwards) Fletcher. She graduated from Blakely High School in Peckville, and lived in Lynn since 1950.
Phyllis was an administrative secretary at Salem State College for 17 years and retired in 1989. She was a member of First Baptist Church and later of Washington Street Baptist Church. She served as secretary at both churches. She was also a Sunday School Teacher, Fellowship Bible Study leader, and choir member.
She was an active member of Victory Chapter #157, Order of Eastern Star. She collected dolls and music boxes. Phyllis was Cub Scout den mother, was active with the West Lynn Little League, and was an avid bowler.
She was the mother of Thomas Fletcher and his wife Judith of Lynn, William Fletcher and his wife Virginia of Lynn, Walter Fletcher and his wife Linda of Fremont, NH, Chad Fletcher and his wife Jeanne of Palm Harbor, FL, and Pamela Fisher and her husband Donald of Angiers, NC. She was the sister of Wallace Fletcher and his wife Gaile of Westport, and leaves 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
