Phyllis R. Richard

Phyllis “Ruthie” R. (Hemeon) Richard, age 88, of Peabody, formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026. She was predeceased by her husbands, Locklin “Lockie” P. Brent and Donald J. Richard.

Born in Shelburne County, Nova Scotia to the late George Hemeon and Myra Inkster. Phyllis moved to Lynn in 1959 with her husband Locklin and their two daughters Shirley and Phyllis. Later, Phyllis worked in the cafeteria at Union Hospital in Lynn, where she truly enjoyed interacting with hospital staff and patients’ families. It was there that she met her husband Donnie. After the loss of his first wife, Donnie would often come to the cafeteria for dinner, and from there a lasting love story began.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters Shirley M. Eaton and her companion Michael Davis of Peabody, and Phyllis M. Lozzi and her husband Vincent Lozzi of Lynn; her stepchildren Keith M. Richard of Melrose and Paige A. Baser and her husband John R. Baser of San Diego, CA, her six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.

In addition to her husbands, Phyllis is predeceased by her brothers George, Charles and Gideon Hemeon; her sisters Arlene Hemeon, Joyce Miles, Sheila Ann Holland, and Fern Parke; and her beloved great-granddaughter Tiana Lozzi.

In keeping with her wishes, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice. Phyllis loved cats, and this would be a meaningful way to honor her memory while helping animals in need.
