

Ralph F. Talbot, a long-time resident and retired Lieutenant with the Lynn Fire Department, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington. Born in Boston on September 19, 1926, Ralph was raised and educated in East Boston. After high school, Ralph enlisted into the US Navy to help fight for our country during World War II. He met and married the love of his life, Barbara Quinton, on June 11, 1966 in Reading. Ralph worked for the City of Lynn Fire Department for over 33 and ½ years. He began his career on Ladder 4 before moving on to Engine 9. He served honorably for the city and fought many fires, including the Great Fire of 1978. A lover of cards, especially cribbage, Ralph played competitively in the Crystal Cribbage Club at St. Michael’s Hall in Lynn. He also served as emcee for many Fire Fighters retirement parties. A friendly and quick-witted comedian, Ralph was the type of gentleman that no one had a bad word to say about. In addition to his wife Barbara, Ralph is survived by his children; Scott A. Talbot and his wife, Barbara of North Andover, Brian K. Talbot and his wife, Caroline of Lynn, Robin Thebodeau of NH, and Carol Kehoe of Peabody, his siblings; Barbara Talbot and Anne Dixon, both of FL as well as the late Richard Talbot, Jeannie Goode, and Adelaide Ferullo. Ralph is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn, MA on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 3 PM. Visitation will be held just prior from 1 to 3 PM. Interment services will be private.
