Rebecca “Becky” Jane (Bryant) Dana, age 82, of Peabody, formerly of Clifton Park, NY and Lynn, MA, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip Dana, who was love of her life or as she would say “her hunnie” with whom she shared 57 years of a joyous marriage and 62 years of friendship.
Born in Lynn, Becky was the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (Campbell) Bryant. She was the devoted mother of Stephanie Bowden and her husband Laurence of Lynn, Robert Dana and his wife Lisa of Peabody, Derek Dana and his wife Christen of Lynn, the cherished grandmother of Jackie, Ben and Jillian Bowden, and Alyson, Bryant, Madison, Delaney and Rachel Dana, the dear sister of Elaine and her late husband Gary Kalapinski, and her late siblings Deanie and John Emerzian, Robert and June Bryant, Noval and Mary Bryant , Donald Bryant, Ann and Harold Fleenor, and Peggy and Alan Blomster. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, many friends.
Becky grew up in McDonough Square, Lynn, graduated from St. Mary's High School with the Class of 1959. She raised her family in East Lynn on Oakwood Ave where the door was always open…and the kitchen table too. When it came to her career, Becky wore many hats from bookkeeping to customer service at Rich’s Dept. Store to elderly care companionship to school monitor. She made friends wherever she went. At A1 Exterminators, she met Judy, her best friend for over 40 years. When Phil’s job took her to New York, uncertain at first to leave her loved ones behind, she was quick to make friends who became her second family. She volunteered for many years at the Elks in Clifton Park, NY. In her early years, she was actively involved in the East Lynn Little League where she was the editor of the Batter Chatter, Babe Ruth, East Lynn Pop Warner, Lynn English Boosters and St. Mary’s Boosters. She enjoyed bingo, gambling, cards, cribbage, and attending the sporting events of her family and friends where she was always everyone’s number 1 fan in the stands - whether she knew them or not! She cherished her time spent with family and friends enjoying everyone’s favorite visits to New York where she would take everyone to Hoffman’s Amusement Park, many trips for ice cream, the races at Saratoga, but mostly just enjoying spending time at the pool. Becky was known for many things, whether it be her fashion, especially her jewelry, funny sayings and songs, being a second mother to all, but most of all her love for her family. "Toodles".
Becky's Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn.
