

Roland F. Harkness, 94, of Peabody passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers. He was a devoted husband and a loving father. Roland worked for many years as a shipping clerk at C. L. Hathaway and Sons in Lynn.
Roland proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Roland enjoyed spending time with family. He spent many summers camping at the Epsom Valley Campground with family and friends. He loved listening to music, especially opera. Later in life, he enjoyed doing puzzles and eating Milky Way bars. Most of all, Roland enjoyed being with his wife, Agnes, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
He volunteered for many years at St. Mary’s Food Pantry in Lynn and Haven from Hunger in Peabody.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Agnes C. Harkness of Peabody; his son, Joseph M. Harkness of Peabody; his daughter, Mary Plourde Pagliarulo of Peabody, and her husband, Michael Pagliarulo; and his son, John M. Harkness of Lynn, and his wife, Lori Harkness. In addition, he is survived by his niece, Joy McLaughlin Tunstall of Nashua, New Hampshire, and her husband, Ray Tunstall. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Patrick Harkness and his wife, Noelle Harkness, of Groveland; Erick Harkness of Lynn; Emma Harkness of Lynn; and William Plourde of Peabody; as well as his darling great-grandchild, Camilla Harkness.
A visitation will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St, on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 9-11 AM with a service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
