Ronald F. "Shorty" McGovern

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Francis and Elodie (Oak) McGovern. He attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during World War II.

Prior to his retirement in 1985, he spent over 30 years as a photographer with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was past commander of VFW Post #507 in Lynn. He loved watching the Red Sox and also enjoyed trains and photography.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his children: Theresa Carteris and her husband Charles, Thomas Bruzzese and his wife Carol, Doreen McGovern, and Patricia Torance all of Lynn. He was the grandfather to Bianca Bruzzese, Steven Torance, Eric Torance and Ryan Torance. He was the brother of the late Claire DeJarlis.

Shorty’s Funeral Service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8PM.
