Rosanne Margaret Fay, of Swampscott, entered into eternal life on May 6, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 72 years of age. Rosanne was the loving daughter of the late Lynn Police Chief Thomas F. Fay, Jr. and Margaret H. (Deveney) Fay. Her brother Thomas F. Fay III of Pembroke, with whom she shared a very special bond, survives her. Rosanne was born in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Salem State University. She was a dedicated teacher for 43 years in the Lynn School System. Rosanne enjoyed her job immensely as it provided her with the ability to impact the lives of many children. Some of her fondest memories were of parents’ nights when she had the opportunity to catch up with former students whose children were then students in her classroom.
Rosanne enjoyed traveling, the theatre, concerts, swimming, cycling, working out at the gym, going to the beach, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She loved to dress up on Halloween, and her favorite time of year was the Christmas season that always included dinner at Mistral restaurant and a Boston Pops Holiday concert. Rosanne observed these holidays with her students by decorating their classroom and joining them in festive celebrations. She was a passionate lover of animals and enjoyed the companionship of her two feline friends, Liam and Bertha.
Rosanne possessed a very strong life force from her earliest days as a child. She embraced new challenges without reservation, enjoying the successes but never complaining when things did not work out as planned. This attitude served her well in later life when confronted with many medical issues. Rosanne was very easy to be around during this challenging time because she made your well-being the focus of conversation and turned the discussion away from any expression of sympathy for her situation. Her inner strength was amazing.
