
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth (Hathaway) Conley and a lifelong Swampscott resident. She graduated from Swampscott High School.
Ruth worked in banking for 43 years, first with the First National Bank of Boston, and then with Fleet Bank in the Leasing Department. She retired in 1985.
A communicant and active member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott, she was a member of the Ladies Sodality at St. John’s and was a Eucharistic Minister. For the past 75 years she was a member of the Choir at St. John’s, and a member of the Dawn Patrol. She was a member of the Choir that sang at the Mass celebrated by Blessed Pope John Paul II on Boston Common in 1978. She was also a member of the Swampscott Historical Society. Ruth was a lover of art, music and animals.
She leaves many close friends including the Hogan and Eldridge families of Swampscott
Her funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Tuesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church Swampscott at 10 AM. Burial in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday 3-7 PM.
