Santa M. “Renda” Driscoll, 99, of Peabody, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her most at Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Peabody, MA on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Born in Lynn on August 7, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Julia (DesLoges) Renda. Santa was raised and educated in Lynn. She attended and graduated from Lynn Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. Santa then pursued her passion as an RN at Lynn Union Hospital in labor and delivery and the Operating Room. After 42 years of service, she retired in 1982. She completed her career working with Richard Peinert, MD in Lynnfield MA. Santa was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Vincent A. Driscoll. She was an avid shopper who loved to cook, host holidays, play the slots at Foxwoods, was generous by nature, and her happiest when helping and giving to others. She enjoyed most her time spent with her family. She had an infinite love for brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. “Family First”. In her later years, she relished the time with her great great-nieces and nephews and had a special bond with her great great-nephew, James, Jr. with whom she shared a birthday.
Santa leaves her sister, Linda Rando of Lawrence, her nieces; Julie Ventresca and her husband, Daniel Gilio of Peabody; Carol Renda of Peabody, and Renee Wood and her husband, Arthur of Peabody. Her great-nieces: Elizabeth Swift and her husband, James, Sr. of Billerica and their sons, James, Jr. and William, Melissa Rougier and her husband, Matthew of Peabody and their daughters, Elyse and Madelyn; Anthony Ventresca of Largo, Florida, Jennifer Thompson and her husband, Kevin of Danielson, CT; and Kellie Wood of Beverly. Many other nieces, nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews. Santa was preceded in death by her five siblings. Jessie DeFazio, Anthony Renda, Ballila Renda, Gilda Pelletier, and Louis Renda.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St. Lynn, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11am. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Mass in Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn from 9 – 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Santa’s memory may be made to: Mass.
