Sarah G. "Sas" Starion

November 6, 1998May 14, 2020

It is with great sadness that Sarah “Sas” G. Starion, age 21, passed away unexpectedly in Burlington, VT, on Tuesday, May 14, 2020. She was the beloved daughter of Kevin and Jane (Anderson) Starion, and sister to Emily and her boyfriend Mauro Cognati of Danvers.

Sarah had a personality like no other. She had an innate ability to light up any room she was in with just her presence. She earned her nickname “Sas” because that’s just who she was, full of humor and sassiness. Born in Salem, MA on November 6, 1998, she was a cherished daughter of Kevin and Jane (Anderson) Starion. Sarah was a graduate of Salem High School, where she was her class president and captain of the volleyball team in 2016. Presently, she was attending the University of Vermont, where she would have been a senior this upcoming fall.

Besides her loving family, Sarah is survived by her grandmothers, Shirley Ann Starion of Lynn, and Claire M. Anderson of Salem; her aunts and uncles, Beth LaMacchia and her husband Ray of Lynn, John Anderson and his wife Jodi of Maine, Kevin Anderson and his wife Kelly of Peabody, Ricky Anderson and his wife Cheri of New Hampshire, Jeff Starion of Peabody, Sean Starion of Lynn, and Kathy Smales of Danvers; her dear dog Luna, as well as many close cousins, friends, and family. Sarah was predeceased by her grandfathers, Gerald Starion and John Anderson.

In adherence to the guidelines issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the CDC, services will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Sarah’s memory to Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, 555 Long Wharf Drive New Haven, CT. 06511.

You were my best friend. Of course not in recent years, since we had lost touch, but, my whole young childhood we were inseparable. I don’t have a single childhood memory without you in it, and I am SO grateful I have all of these amazing memories of us.
I regret losing touch because you truly were a once in a life time type of person. Such an incredible personality with so much kindness, love, and HUMOR.
I’m sorry, I hope you know how much everyone you met fell in love with you, and how much of an impression you have clearly left on anyone you met.
We won’t forget our laughs or your kindness.
R.I.P Sas

Oh Sassa Frass, I can't even begin! I have so many great memories and stories. There is no right word to describe how I feel or what I am thinking. I know I am going to miss you on so many levels and my heart is so broken right now. I will be at functions or places and if something happens I will wonder what would Sarah say. Fly high Sassy and always keep the rest of us safe. Give Grampie Jack a big wet one for us. Say hi to the rest of the clan. Love you always and forever.

I will never forget meeting you in 4th grade. We were so excited that we both had the same bike.
To working at Orange Leaf and never doing our jobs.
I’ll never overlook all the times I got to sit across from you in Ms. Marenda’s class, sharing endless jokes that always made us laugh too hard and usually got us in trouble.
To our very last softball season together - you being the one to always hug me when we were both having a bad game, and you proceeded to call me Noodlehead. But I still looked up to you as one of the best players, and I always will.
I really miss you Sas. I love you forever. Thank you for the amazing memories I will always cherish and hold onto so tightly. Keep making the sun shine down on us, it’s been comforting. Xo

i think the hardest part about loosing you isn’t having to say goodbye but realizing that i’m going to have to live this crazy life without you.. your laugh, your corny jokes or that little smirky smile. You brought so much light into my life and i never got to tell you.. thank you 💜 thank you for making this world a little bit sweeter ..
Rest easy baby girl .

“i love you baby girl”
