

LYNN- Sarah “Sally” (Ferguson) Hibbard, 91, of Newburyport, formerly of Lynn and St. Petersburg, passed away Thursday, September 27th at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport where she lived for the last several years. She was the beloved wife of the late Roy Hibbard with whom she shared 14 years of marriage and the late William Mitchell with whom she shared 31 years of marriage.
Born and educated in Lynn, Sally was the devoted daughter of the late Malcolm and Evelyn (McCormick) Ferguson. She was the loving mother of Sallyann Parris and her husband, Wayne of Amesbury, Robert Mitchell and his wife, Theresa of Georgetown, Malcolm Mitchell and his wife, Wendy of Lynn, and the late William Mitchell; the dear sister of Lorraine Webster of Fort Myers FL, Elsie Jagodiniski of Peabody, and the Late Jessie Ferguson and Stella Fuller; the cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren, great-grandmother of several great-grandchildren and the aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Primarily a homemaker, Sally worked at Transitron in Wakefield for several years prior to working as a supervisor at General Electric for many years until her retirement to St. Petersburg Florida in 1982. After her retirement, she served as a lunch aide in the local public schools for several years. Sally enjoyed playing poker and bingo with her family and friends in Florida and was known for her love of card games at the Port Healthcare Center. Services and interment are private and under the care of the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home.
