

Sheila was born in Salem, the daughter of the late John and Julia (Mulvihill) Barrett. She attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and St. Mary’s Girls High School in Lynn. After her high school graduation in 1954, she was employed by General Electric until she and Nick had children.
Her family was her life and she was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Sheila had a vibrant, contagious personality and loved life. She lived life to the fullest and always loved social gatherings. She will be profoundly missed by her family, as well as many dear friends. Until the time of her recent illness, she was an active member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians in Lynn. She was also very active at St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Union Hospital in Lynn and of M3 Medical ICU at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
She was a devoted mother to her loving children, Doreen Dunlop and her husband Neil, Nicholas “Nicky” Calos, and Nancy Craig and her husband Chris all of Lynn. She was a proud grandmother to Nicole Dunlop Torres and her husband Wil, Ashley Dunlop, Neil Dunlop, Tyler Craig and Ryan Craig, who all adored their Nana. Sheila was blessed to have two great grandsons: Drake and Niko Torres who brought their Nana Sheila great joy. She also leaves her siblings, Linda Jordan and her late husband Robert and John “Buddy” Barrett and his wife Diane all of Lynn, Donna DiLiegro and her husband John of Revere and Debra McLaud and her husband James of Lynnfield. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Sheila’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Boston Children’s Hospital Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Clinic, 300 Longwood Ave Boston, MA 02115.
