Born in Lynn, Sheila was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Coleen) Dempsey. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Lynn. Sheila continued her education and received her nursing degree from the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing. Following graduation, Sheila began her career in nursing as an Operating Room nurse at Lynn hospital until she married and began raising her family.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was the matriarch of her family - strong, loving, kind and easy-to-laugh with a heart of gold. Throughout her life, Sheila exemplified unwavering love and dedication to her family. She cherished her role as a grandmother, affectionately known as Mammy, showering her granddaughters with unconditional love and joy. Sheila's warm and welcoming nature extended beyond her family, acting as mom for all who knew her, fostering lasting friendships, enriching her life with shared experiences and laughter. Sheila and Dick hosted July 4th parties for over 40 years at their home on York Road in Lynn, an event that was always well attended and looked forward to year after year. She traveled with her children and grandchildren on special trips following their graduations; a trip each got to choose. Over the years they vacationed in Ogunquit, ME, “The Place” in New Hampshire, and Florida, always creating treasured memories together. In her spare time Sheila enjoyed quilting and was the treasurer of the Hammersmith Quilting Guild in Saugus. Her warm spirit, unwavering love, and enduring legacy will forever be remembered.
