It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas M. Cronin, age 71 of Lynn, who passed away on March 10, 2026, after bravely battling cancer with strength and unwavering determination. He was surrounded by his family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Tom was the son of the late Edward and Anna (Carton) Cronin. Tom was a lifelong resident of Lynn and attended public schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical’s Class of 1973. Tom spent his youth involved in sports, playing in various baseball and basketball leagues. He also enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins.
Tom was the definition of hardworking. He believed in showing up, putting in the effort, and doing things the right way. He took pride in providing and giving more than he ever asked for in return. His work ethic was not just something he practiced, it was something he lived, as shown in the twenty years he spent working as an attendant at Prime One in Lynn.
He was also the funniest person in the room. His humor was quick, sometimes mischievous. He loved to make people laugh, especially when they needed it the most. Though he may have had struggles, he faced them with remarkable courage. His strength was not loud, but it was steady. Even in his hardest moments, he showed up for the people he loved.
Tom leaves behind his loving wife Karen (Pye) Cronin, and his sons Dylan and Shane Cronin, all of Lynn. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Croninand his wife Patricia of Nahant, and his sisters Joanne Dodge of Danvers, and Ann Marie Schermerhorn and her husband Marshall of Boxford. He was predeceased by his older brother Edward Cronin of Lynn. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as Robert Dixon who was a close family friend.
Tom’s visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. He had a special tenderness for animals. Whether rescuing a stray or spoiling a beloved pet, his compassion revealed the gentleness part of his heart. For that reason, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Avenue, Salem. MA 01970.
