

Mr. Thomas Herbert Nelson, age 74, of Raynham passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017. Born and raised in Lynn and a 30-year resident of Lynnfield, Tom was the son of the late Herbert A. and Mary (Henry) Nelson. He graduated from Lynn English High School with the Class of 1960 and received his bachelor’s and master's degrees from Salem State College. Tom was a dedicated school teacher in Swampscott where he taught for thirty-three years prior to his retirement.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Heaslip) Nelson of Raynham with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Robert J. Nelson and his wife, Meredith (West) of Scituate, and James T. Nelson, and his wife, Anne (Hoffner) of Duxbury; the cherished grandfather of Megan, Peter, Thomas, John, and Nathaniel; the dear brother of William Nelson of Foxboro, and the late Robert J. Nelson of Lynn.
Tom’s funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Wednesday, January 25th, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 758 Salem St., Lynnfield. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are welcome. Visiting hours will be held from 4:30 - 8:30 PM on Tuesday, January 24th, at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home.
