Vasilios Ioannidis of Lynn passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of Voula Ioannidis with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
He grew up in Piraeus, Greece and was son of the late Demetrios and Zoe Ioannidis and later raised his family in Lynn. Vasilios was a CNC Machinist at PV Engineering and Manufacturing for 20 years. He loved his work and the camaraderie he shared with his coworkers.
He enjoyed playing cards with his Friday night group and dancing the night away at local Greek restaurants. He had a mischievous spirit, a playful glint in his eye, and was known for his sense of humor and ability to make others laugh.
He loved reading spy novels, watching movies, and doing crossword puzzles. Above all, Vasilios deeply loved his family. He was proud of his granddaughter Vasiliki every time she performed on stage, teased his wife Voula with loving tenderness, and showed his care through small, thoughtful acts... always making sure favorite foods were in the house or taking everyone’s cars to the car wash.
Vasilios was a devoted father, a guiding role model to his daughter Anna, and a constant source of love and support to his son Jim... even saving his “junk mail” long after he had moved out.
He is survived by his loving wife Voula Ioannidis, his devoted children Anna Ioannidis and Jim Ioannidis (and his partner Liz Cohen), and his cherished granddaughter Vasiliki Ioannidis, his namesake. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother George Ioannidis.
Vasilios’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 South Common Street, Lynn, MA 01902. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
