Virginia F. Russo Scanlan

Virginia was born in Saugus, daughter of the late Diego and Mary (Manicone) Russo. She was a resident of Saugus for most of her life until moving to Peabody in 1996. She previously resided in Everett for 5 years. Virginia was a graduate of Saugus High School.

She worked at the former Lynn Cooperative Bank and the North Shore News. She previously worked at the former Lynn Hospital as a Nurses Aide.

She was a former communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Saugus. Virginia taught piano at her home for many years.

She is survived by her grandson Corey Santos and her son in law Michael Santos both of Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including John and Maryjane Newhall of Lynn, Mary and Jim Sims of Canton, Chester Russo of NC, Donna Plackowitz of Tewksbury and Daniel Russo of NC, and by several great nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.

She was the beloved mother of the late Lisa Marie Santos, sister of the late Chester “Chick” Russo, Sr., Italia “Ida” Newhall and Josephine Kwiatkowski.

Virginia’s Funeral will be from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn, Friday at 11 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 12:00 (noon). Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
