Mr. William E. Doughty II, age 72, of Lynn, died Tuesday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Judith M. (Perry) Doughty who died on May 7, 2013.
Born in Lynn and a lifelong resident of the city, he was the son of the late William E. and Mary M. (Johnson) Doughty. He graduated from Lynn Trade High School.
Bill was a Senior Custodian at the Collins Middle School in Salem and retired in 2004. He was also a member of the Lynn Police Auxiliary and worked on parades, traffic and patrol. He did detail work for the second Great Lynn Fire in 1981.
He was an animal lover and also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, road trips, freshwater fishing and hunting.
Bill was the father of the late William E. Doughty III, Jeffrey A. Doughty and Julie Doughty. He leaves one sister, Carol Cornacchia of FL and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Arlene Kelly.
Bill’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN Funeral Home 157 Maple St. Lynn on Friday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
