

Alice Edith Dorcas, born Alice Edith Robinson on September 28, 1927, in Bayfield, Wisconsin, peacefully departed this life on September 26, 2024, at her home in Bothell, Washington, surrounded by her beloved family.
Alice grew up in Salem, Oregon, where she spent her summers picking hops, instilling in her the values of hard work and resilience. She was the cherished wife of Leonard Dorcas and the devoted mother of Michael, Diane, Leonard Jr., David, and Mary. Alice's heart expanded to embrace nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, creating a legacy of love that will forever resonate within her family.
A remarkable woman, Alice demonstrated extraordinary strength and determination during World War II, working as a welder in the shipyards before graduating high school. She later moved to Seattle with her brother, where she built a life filled with warmth and joy.
Known for her culinary talents, Alice delighted her family and friends with both cherished recipes and adventurous new creations. Her home was a sanctuary of love, most notably during the magical Christmas Eve gatherings that brought her ever-growing family together. She was the calm presence and the glue that held her boisterous clan together, nurturing connections that will be deeply missed.
A devoted volunteer at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, amongst others,, Alice made a profound impact on her community, exemplifying kindness and compassion. She enjoyed exploring the beauty of the United States in their motorhome or by boat, always inviting a grandchild or two to join her on her adventures. Before losing her vision, she could often be found immersed in a book, sharing stories and wisdom with all who gathered around her.
Alice's family will forever cherish her memory and the countless moments of joy and love they shared. A memorial service celebrating her life will begin with a procession in the parking lot at Purdy & Walters' on October 8, 2024, at 11:45 AM.The service will then proceed at her gravesite.
Alice’s spirit, warmth, and kindness have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was a true matriarch, whose love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
A graveside service for Alice will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 980364934.
