Alice Marie Hartshorn

On April 25th 2019 my Mother passed away unexpectedly. We thought we all would have more time, but how she passed doesn't define how she lived. This girl from Gales Creek started her story born in Oregon on June 13th 1935.

Alice Marie Lyda was the youngest of seven children born into a logging family with a farm. Alice tended to the animals when she was little while learning to drive a truck on the side roads certainly before it was legal. She also took drama in school with her eyes on the stars in Hollywood.

The girl from Gales Creek eventually left for the lights of the big city in Portland, working in stores and being independent for the first time. Later Alice headed to the even bigger city of Seattle. While working in the Jet City at Boeing, Alice met David, our Father and they were married in 1960 during the era of “Bali Hi” from South Pacific.

She soon settled down to starting our family of three kids and three dogs over time. The girl from Gales Creek spent the years running the household and exploring with us around the west coast mostly in Washington State. Alice, with her passing is the last of her generation. The girl from Gales Creek is survived by David, her husband, Scott, Denise and I, Brad her children. Also by extended family and friends who have cherished her presence over many years.

A private family graveside interment will take place at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, WA.
