Tan Cheur An was born on January 15th, 1925 in Kompong Chnang, Cambodia. His father was Tan Pa, who worked as a well banker & merchant until 1975. He was the middle child of three brothers. He met his wife, Neth Seng, while at Chinese school and together they had five children. Starvation during the Khmer Rouge took the lives of his parents, wife, and three children. Kong An fled the war with his two remaining children to Thailand, where they were sponsored to relocate to San Diego, California in 1979. He later moved his family to Bellevue, Washington in 1985. Kong An was admired by many friends and appreciated by his colleagues for his generosity. He enjoyed spending his time at the temple and traveling back to Cambodia each year.
Kong An passed away peacefully in his sleep at Swedish Cherry Hill Hospital on Sunday August 12th, 2018 at 7:41 PM. He is survived by his daughter Kimly Tan, his son Paul Tan, and eight grandchildren.
