Loving husband, father and grandfather; accomplished lawyer; Rotarian; retired Marine Corps pilot. A true gentleman and loyal friend. At age 82, Bardell “Buzz” Miller, a longtime Everett resident, passed away peacefully to join his beautiful wife, Kay, with our Heavenly Father. His winning smile, infectious laugh, and quick wit will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Buzz was raised in Portland, Oregon, the only child of Dayle and Beth Miller. He is a graduate of Portland State College and Gonzaga Law School. In 1953, he joined the U.S. Navy and completed flight school, then in 1955 joined the U.S. Marine Corps as a helicopter pilot. He served in the USMC on active duty until 1957 and reserve duty until 1982, retiring at rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The Marine Corps was important to Buzz throughout his life.
Buzz and Kay were married in Seattle in 1966 and moved to Everett in 1967 where Buzz began his law career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. In 1969 he went into private practice and formed Senter & Miller law firm, which later became Senter, Miller & Bowden in 1979. In 1985, he joined the Office of the Corporate Counsel at the Snohomish County P.U.D. and retired in 2012 at age 78. Buzz was active with the Everett Rotary Club and served as President in 1996-97. He was a five-time Paul Harris fellow and a benefactor of Rotary International.
Buzz was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Kay (Tallmadge) Miller; and his parents, Dayle and Beth Miller. He is survived by his son, Andrew Miller; daughter, Stacey Miller Dell’Osso (son-in-law Scott Dell’Osso); and grandchildren Cody Miller, Elisa Dell’Osso, and Anna Dell’Osso.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Everett Rotary Youth Foundation, “Buzz and Kay Miller Scholarship”, PO Box 1225, Everett, WA 98206.
