Charles Edward “Charlie” Tillman was born on a Missouri farm during the Great Depression and lived 93 years marked by devotion, resilience, and quiet strength. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he met the love of his life, Barbara, in 1956 not far from the family farm in Brookfield. They married the following year and built a family that grew to include four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Following his graduation from the University of Missouri, Charlie enjoyed a long career as an accountant and auditor with Phillips Petroleum, retiring in 1987. As a retiree, he pursued his passions of gardening, reading history, and volunteering, but above all, he poured himself into caring for Barbara and their family.
Charlie was a gentle and humble man, with a knowing smile and a dry sense of humor. His compassion, patience, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. To his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he was a steady example of integrity and love, and his influence on them will be felt for generations.
Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life well lived and a legacy of generosity, faith, and devotion that will endure in the hearts of family and friends alike.
