

Cirilo Catinguel Banaag (known as "Eli" to his friends) was born on July 7, 1942 in Pangasinan, Philippines, as one of four children. He passed away peacefully at home in Mukilteo, WA on August 2, 2023, after battling myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
Growing up in the Philippines, Eli began a 20-year service in the US Navy in 1967, serving on the USS Constellation & the USS Thorn. He received a number of awards including three Vietnam Service Medals, Navy Achievement Medal, and a Navy Expeditionary Medal. Eli continued his public service, working another 20 years as a postal sorter for the US Postal Service in Everett, WA.
Eli married Aida Soriano in 1976, and they had their only daughter, Abigail (Gail), in 1977. Gail & her husband, Don, gave Lolo his greatest job - as grandfather to Lucy & Emma, who loved going to Walt Disney World and Cannon Beach, OR with him.
An avid photographer, Eli loved traveling the world & visited 86 countries. They are most proud of their three African safaris & trip to Antarctica. When he wasn't traveling, he enjoyed watching action movies & the Discovery Channel.
Eli is survived by his wife of 48 years, Aida, his daughter Abigail (Donald) Cornelius, granddaughters Lucy & Emma, his brother, Panfilo Banaag, and a number of nieces & nephews worldwide. He is preceded in death by his parents, Geraldo & Teresa Banaag, brother Ramon, and sister Dorie.
A memorial service for Cirilo will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036. A committal service will occur Friday, September 15, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036. A reception will occur Friday, September 15, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
