She was a loving mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many. All who knew her loved her. She graduated from Platte High School in Platte, South Dakota. Soon after she came to Seattle to work at Boeing to help with the war effort. She soon met and married sailor Maurice “Tony” McCoy. They were divorced after 17 years of marriage and 5 children; William McCoy, Clarice “Bunny” (Dennis) Duffy, James (Adrienne) McCoy, Sally Ward, and John (Cindy) McCoy. Life was tough raising 5 children alone. She had an amazing work ethic, sometimes working 3 jobs to feed her children and provide a little extra for fun now and again. One of her great joys was being a Girl Scout leader. She cherished the lifelong friendships she had with scouts Sharon, Cindy, and ‘Cush’. She married Rick Preston in 1971 and life got a little easier. She even retired, but lasted only one year. She enjoyed church activities, volunteering at the cancer shop, and spending time at the “Pondy” - property she and Rick owned near Arlington. She is survived by her children, grandchildren Erin, Colin, Evan, Bridget, James, Brandi, Alece, Hayley, Bryan, Julie, and 7 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the Seattle Gospel Mission.
