Clayton Steiner passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on April 12, 1941, in Port Townsend, Washington to Martin and Elizabeth Steiner he was number seven of nine children. He graduated from La Conner High School in the summer of 1959. He was an avid sports enthusiast which he carried all throughout his lifetime. Golf, of course, was his real passion. He began working for Dunlap Towing in La Conner in 1959 which was purchased by Puget Sound Freight Lines (PSFL). He began his career as a deckhand and cook, and after over forty years of service was a proud Skipper in their fleet of Tugboats. He was superseded in death by his parents and brothers Richard, David and Martin Steiner Jr. as well as his sisters Elizabeth Bradbury and Rita Mallahan. He is survived by his wife, Lottie Steiner, eldest son Christopher Steiner, daughter Carolyn Hood and youngest son Craig Steiner (wife Anne). He has four grandchildren, Brett Steiner (wife Kendra), Tyler Hood, Dylan Hood and Alex Steiner (wife Taylor) as well as one great grandchild, Theodore Steiner. He is also survived by two brothers John and Darrol Steiner and sister Margaret Bruffy and a very extensive Steiner/Dilly family in the hundreds. He is truly loved and will be dearly missed.
