March 26, 1950 – May 28, 2026
With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Danilo Banzuelo Barredo, who passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in Seattle, Washington, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old.
Danilo was born on March 26, 1950, in Iloilo, Philippines to Tomas Barredo and Iluminada Banzuelo. A remarkably talented craftsman and engineer, he rose from humble beginnings. He started his journey upholstering furniture and repairing appliances, driven by a natural curiosity and ingenuity that eventually led him to a distinguished career as an aviation engineer. Over the years, his brilliant mind contributed to remarkable feats of aerospace history, including work on the Aero Spacelines B377 Super Guppy transporter, the McDonnell Douglas DC-9-USN (C-9B Skytrain II), the T-45A Goshawk, and the Boeing 737-300 and 747-400. He also lent his expertise to assisting with the development of specialized equipment required to produce the Spitzer Space Telescope.
On October 22, 1977, he married the love of his life, Erlinda Besagar Barredo, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years of marriage and partnership. Together, they built a life centered on devotion and love. Danilo was a proud and loving father to his son, Stephenjon Barredo, and his daughter, Sherry Barredo. Later, his family grew when Jordan Patashnik married his son, and welcomed her as a daughter-in-law. One of the greatest moments of his life was becoming “Lolo” to his beloved granddaughter, Eliana Barredo. The way he lit up every time he saw her will be a treasured memory.
Danilo will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and generous man whose love for his family knew no bounds. He was the bedrock of his family—the person you could always depend on, no matter the need. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and uncle, he consistently put the needs of others before his own. His quiet strength, warm smile, and caring nature touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in the legacy of love, integrity, and kindness he leaves behind. His memory will live on eternally in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the countless lives he impacted through his compassion and generosity.
Danilo is survived by his loving wife, Erlinda; his son, Stephenjon; his daughter-in-law, Jordan; his treasured granddaughter, Eliana; and many beloved relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Although his daughter Sherry was not on Earth to see him leave, his family takes comfort in knowing she was the first to welcome him home at the gates of Heaven.
