Born in Columbus, Montana on August 14, 1935, Darlene was the daughter of the late Jacob and Julia Long. While attending school in Columbus, she met Wilfred Marion Johnson, the love of her life, and in 1952 they married and remained so until Wilfred’s passing in 1996. In 1967, Darlene and Wilfred moved their family from Montana to the Seattle area, eventually settling in Mountlake Terrace in 1969 where they remained until their respective deaths.
Darlene is survived by her sister Linda Diane Homme; four children, Wilfred Jr. “Skip” Johnson and wife Lisa, William Eugene “Bill” Johnson, Wesley Allan Johnson, Deborah Lynn Bowers and her husband Kerry. Two granddaughters: Suna Alcantera and husband Miguel, and Grace Johnson. One great granddaughter: Cera Alcantera, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darlene worked for over 30 years as a banquet waitress at the Olympic hotel and the Washington Plaza. In her “retirement years” she cooked and served weekly meals at the senior house in Mountlake Terrace, and was an active member and volunteer at her church, Bethesda Lutheran in Mountlake Terrace.
Darlene always had a smile for everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Service for Darlene will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 10:00 am at the Mountlake Terrace Senior Center, 23000 Lakeview Drive, Mountlake Terrace, WA
