David was born on March 2, 1963, in Buffalo, New York, and spent much of his youth and young adulthood in Malta, NY. A natural builder and leader even in his early years, he was known in high school as the “master float builder,” a role that perfectly foreshadowed a lifetime of creating, mentoring, and bringing people together.
He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1985, followed by an MBA from the University of Michigan in 1989. David spent most of his professional career in the high-tech industry in Silicon Valley and Northern California, where he worked in purchasing and built lasting professional relationships rooted in integrity and collaboration.
Family was David’s greatest love and proudest achievement. He cherished his time with his children—sharing Boy Scouts adventures with his son Mark and Y Princesses with his daughter Sara. He was famous in the neighborhood for teaching local kids how to weld, always eager to pass along skills and confidence.
David’s final chapter in Washington was his most joyful role yet: being Papa to his granddaughters, Willow and Maple. He poured his heart into volunteering at the Lynnwood Food Bank and the local maker space, living out his lifelong passion for service, creativity, and connection. Known for his warmth and curiosity, David had a gift for mentoring others and bringing people together. His passions included woodworking, building electronics, long motorcycle rides, and—above all—his children and grandchildren.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Wendy; his son Mark and daughter-in-law Sarah; his daughter Sara and son-in-law Brad; and his treasured granddaughters, Willow and Maple. He is also survived by his brother John and sister-in-law Kathy, and his sister Stacy and brother-in-law Tim. David was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Jack, and his brother, Garry.
Celebrations of David’s life are being planned in Washington, California, and New York, reflecting the many places and people he touched throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lynnwood Food Bank, honoring David’s commitment to community and service.
