Dianne Louise Rice

On July 20, 2026, Dianne Louise Rice passed peacefully at home on Camano Island, WA at the age of 70. She is now perfectly healed and joyfully in the presence of her Lord Jesus.

Dianne was born in Fergus Falls, MN on March 10th, 1956, along with her triplet sisters, Donna and Darlene, joining her brother Dan. She moved with her family to Cooperstown, ND in 1958 where her dad served as interim pastor at Zion Lutheran Brethren Church, then moved to Bellingham, WA in 1959. It was at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church that she placed her faith in Jesus Christ and began serving Him in every area of her life. Dianne attended Birchwood Elementary, Shuksan Middle and Bellingham High Schools, graduating in 1974. Dianne and her sisters worked shifts together at Big Scoop Sundae Palace, no doubt creating some triple looks of delight. She attended Western Washington University and later started working full-time in banking.

Dianne met Jon Rice in August 1981 in Bellingham, WA. Jon and Dianne were engaged February 14, 1982, married on August 7, 1982, and made their first home in Burlington, WA, where Dianne commuted to Bellingham to work at Horizon Bank and Jon commuted to Oak Harbor to work at InterWest Bank. They moved to Port Angeles, WA for Jon’s work in 1983, where Dianne worked for Peninsula Community College, then moved to Camano Island in 1991 where Dianne later began working as a paraeducator in the Stanwood/Camano School District. They celebrated nearly 29 years of marriage and serving the Lord together prior to Dianne’s brain aneurysm on May 14, 2011, and another 15 years, “Still Trusting Jesus,” in the seasons that followed. She was blessed and loved by many enduring friends in the Bellingham, Port Angeles and Stanwood/Camano Island communities. We are grateful for all those who spent countless hours helping to care for Dianne after her aneurysm.

Dianne and Jon have two children, Amanda (Rob) Henry of Lacey, WA and Aaron Rice of Stanwood, WA. They faithfully trusted in God’s perfect will and timing for her life. Dianne took great delight, exchanging many smiles with her two grandchildren, Jackson and Madelyn Henry.

Dianne is preceded in death by her father and mother, Leroy and Elma Njaa. She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren, brother Dan (Marj) Njaa, sisters Donna (Jim) Rice and Darlene (Ken) Dokken, and their families.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Camano Chapel, 867 S West Camano Drive, Camano Island, WA 98282. The livestream link is www.camanochapel.org/memorials.

A family graveside service and interment will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills Cemetery, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

Memorials may be given to Camano Chapel, Camano Island, WA; Westwood Baptist Church, Olympia, WA; and Maple Park Lutheran Church, Lynnwood, WA.
