Dick, or “Doc” as he was known to most people, was born April 21st, 1926 near Reedsport, OR. He attended Reedsport High School and then joined the Navy where he served in the Pacific during World War II as a gunner on a battle ship. He attended Washington State University, and while earning his degree in veterinary medicine, he met his wife of 43 years, Jacqueline June Cecchi. Together they raised 6 kids on their family farm in Woodinville.
Dick was an accomplished hunter and fisherman, a true outdoors man. He enjoyed guns, knife making, gardening and visiting friends and family, but his true life passion was animal health and welfare. It is impossible to imagine how many lives Doc touched, both animals and people through his practice at the Bothell Animal Clinic.
He is survived by his brother Ken Brookhart and sister-in-law Vivian Brookhart; his children: Ryan Brookhart (Kathy Brookhart), Melissa Kingma (Scott Kingma), Marlene Putman (John Putman), Jolene McGill (Todd McGill) and Matthew Brookhart (Carolyn Brookhart); and 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jackie Brookhart and his son Brogan Brookhart.
A memorial service is scheduled for July 24th at 11:00AM, at Purdy &Walters, Floral Hills in Lynnwood. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Polycystic Kidney foundation are appreciated. The family would especially wish to thank the nurses and caregivers at Regency Care Center in Monroe for their kindness, dedication and love for our Dad.
