Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Sites was born to Claude and Rose Jenkins in Ontario, OR. She was one of 9 children and grew up in Tenino, WA. It was love at first sight when she met Franklin "Bud" Sites in 1942. They married that year and had 3 deeply loved children including Franklin "David" Jr, Linda Ellen and Marshal Todd "Jimmy" Sites.
Betty was a country girl and loved to sing. In 1967, she performed live each Saturday with her daughter, Linda, on KOMO TV's Evergreen Jubilee Show. In the early 1970s she and Bud went to Nashville and made an album. They called it Heart Full of Country which describes her perfectly. Following that, she persuaded her children to form a family band, and they performed for years at special events and Elk Clubs.
Her musical life coincided with her 35-year sales career at Seattle Lighting. Betty had a big personality and meeting her was always memorable. Her country charm made her fearless, forthright, and funny. Her customers never knew what she would say.
Bud, David and Jimmy preceded her in death. With her big heart, she was "Mom" to many in her life. She is survived by her daughter Linda and husband Harry, daughter-in-law Lani, 7 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Her family and friends are celebrating her life well lived on what would have been her 99th birthday. It takes place at The Nile Country Club in Mountlake Terrace on April 12, 2025 between 1 and 4.
We'd like to share a poem she wrote a few years ago called the Final Curtain Call:
With the final curtain call
You may not be ready
But you hear angel’s call
And you know sooner or later
We all have to go
But when that time comes
Nobody knows
The loved ones you leave
Will be filled with great pain
But the ones gone before you'll see again
So know that Heaven has room for you
As you take your last trip
To the heavens of blue
As the doors swing open
And you walk right in
That's when your life starts over again
Being an angel helping one and all
With the final curtain call
With the final curtain call
Amen, Betty
