Ernestine Antoinette (Becktell) Hynek, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 27, 2017 following a bad fall. She was undergoing rehabilitation treatment at the time of her death. Her residence was at South Pointe Assisted Living in Everett, WA where she was very happy and loved the staff.
"Ernie" was born June 30, 1932 in Seattle, WA to Lloyd Raymond Becktell and Antoinette Marie (Bergeron) Becktell. She, along with 4 other siblings, grew up in Arlington, WA. She graduated High School in 1950. She married William Robert Hynek "Bill" on July 24, 1954. They bought their family home and raised their their 3 children in Mountlake Terrace. They nearly made it 50 years married before she lost Bill to cancer.
Ernie worked hard her whole life. She waitressed, cooked, raised 3 kids, took in other people's kids when need be, was a Cub Scout Leader, helped run the family masonry business, owned a Tavern with her husband, and eventually retired from WA State Liquor Board.
Back in the day, Ernie and Bill loved to dance; in fact, that's how they met. Ernie liked to go bowling and became a very good bowler. She also enjoyed socializing with her "play cards" friends at the Eagles, and liked working on puzzles. Ernie loved her many family dogs and cats throughout the years. The family has many fond camping memories and summer times were often spent up in Birch Bay where they kept a vacation home.
Ernie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her husband, her son-in-law, Tony Hill, and just 5 weeks ago lost her only daughter, Sheree Hill, to cancer. She is survived by two sons Rob and Christ Hynek, Daughter-in-laws, Jean Hynek and Lorraine (Hynek) Stevenson, grandchildren Virginia McCarter, Kyle Hill, Taryn and Jori Hynek. Her sister, Janette Williams, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, neighbors.
We say goodbye, for now, to devoted wife, mother, and friend. You will always be remembered and loved.
