Gary West Gilmour

Born in Seattle, Washington on December 7, 1947, Gary was preceded in death by both parents, Harry and Janet and his sister Karyl. Gary passed away after a quiet, but courageous battle with cancer on July 30, 2026.

He is survived by his sister Karen, brother-in-law Steve, his nephew Erick and niece Robyn, his daughter Debbie, his sons Gene and James, Grandchildren; Monique, Robert, James, Charlie, Gavin and Noah and his Great-Grandchildren Aspen, Alison and Christopher.

Gary held a strong love in his heart for his family, his friends, and animals of all kinds. He also really enjoyed sports and had a significant love of Hot Wheels and classic cars.

Gary loved to spend his time gardening and caring for various critters around his home, particularly the squirrels, rabbits and birds.

To know Gary was to feel comfort, kindness, warmth and a genuinely good spirit that spent each day lighting up the faces of others no matter what was going on in his own world.

Gary’s light will continue to shine through the people whose lives he touched, through his family, and through every bird and squirrel feeder that remains filled. Being around him felt safe, calm and never boring. He always had something that a visitor could help with.

Gary was an Army veteran who served his time in the Vietnam War. He was proud of his service to the United States. Gary was and remains loved by so many people. Gary will be deeply missed and the memories of his warm smile and endearing laughter will remain treasured for all of us who knew him.

While our hearts may be missing him deeply, Gary would want us all to push on, go on grand adventures, stop to feed the birds, and enjoy a walk in the fresh air.
