1952 – 2026
Gene Stevens, 73, of Lynnwood, Washington, passed away suddenly on March 20, 2026, in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was doing exactly what he loved: enjoying a spring training trip with his son, Brandon, to cheer on his Home town Seattle Mariners.
Born in Los Angeles, California, to Adelina and Ted Stevens, Gene’s family eventually moved to Washington, where he attended Bothell High School. It was in the Pacific Northwest that Gene built a life defined by hard work, deep friendships, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
Gene spent much of his career in the grocery industry, spanning years at Mayfair, Albertsons, and the Ballard Sentry Market. More than just a job, the grocery aisles were where Gene forged lifelong friendships and, most importantly, where he met his wife, Penny. Marrying Penny brought Gene a "ready-made" family that he embraced with his whole heart. He eventually retired from Oroweat, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and a sharp professional wit.
An avid fisherman and a true sports enthusiast, Gene was happiest with a line in the water or a game on the screen. Whether he was talking stats or sharing a story from the docks, his presence was a constant source of warmth for those around him.
Gene is survived by his children, Brandon Stevens, Sheri Boser, TJ Westmiller, and Stephanie Caudel; his sisters, Gail Stevens, Diane Massie, and Sharon Allerdice; and his brothers, Donald and Ted Stevens. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren—Derek, Krysten, Olivia, Aspen, Ashley, Joey, and Jillian—and his great-grandchildren, Riley and Reese Stevens, all of whom he adored.
Gene’s sudden departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his spirit remains in every Mariners home run Seahawk Touch down and every quiet morning on the lake.
