

Geneva was born on November 16th, 1938 in Stanley, North Dakota. She was one of eight children born to Harry and Anna Nelson.
In her early life, Geneva attended Stanley Schools and helped with taking care of her siblings and family after the passing of her father when she was only 15 years old.
Geneva married her husband Gary Swartz on November 29, 1959 in Stanley, North Dakota. They started their family the following year and eventually moved from North Dakota to Seattle, Washington.
Geneva loved camping and shared that love with her family on many trips to Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. She also loved to work on craft projects and gardening. Most of all she loved spending time with her many grandchildren creating memories with them and watching them grow.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna Nelson, her brothers Henry Nelson, Larry Nelson, and Kenneth Nelson, her sisters Harriet Keyes, Viola Jones, and Gladys Sartwell. Most recently, Geneva was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Gary Swartz.
Geneva is survived by her children and their spouses: Larry (Susan) Swartz, James Todd (Heather) Swartz, Nadine (Stan) Schultz, Greg (Kate) Swartz, Kevin (Kris) Swartz, and David (Shelley) Swartz, her sister Ruth (Dwight) MacMonagle, and many grandchildren who all held a special place in her heart.
An upcoming grave side service with reception following for both Gary and Geneva will be held on Saturday , March 7th (1:00 pm) at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills in Lynnwood, Washington. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance or Fred Hutchinson to help work towards finding a cure.
The family wishes to express their personal thank you to Providence Hospice of Seattle and Care Force Home Care for their help in making Geneva comfortable and at peace while allowing her to remain at home during her transition.
