Heila Leberta Kanoelani (Lum) Pahukula, age 78, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born the fourth child of thirteen to Landis K. Lum Sr. and Elaine L. (Kamalii) Lum on June 11, 1940.
Heila graduated from Waipahu High School in 1958. She worked at the Quarter Master Laundry, Honolulu International Airport, Maryknoll Schools Cafeteria, retired from Hawaii Medical Services Association and eventually relocated to Washington State to be close to her grandson.
Heila married Joseph K. Pahukula, Jr. on July 17, 1965. They had two daughters, Jocelyn (Adam) Garcia-Quinones and Jonell Pahukula.
Heila’s family was important to her and she was a “mom” to her younger siblings and to all her nieces and nephews. Aunty Heila’s and Uncle Joe’s house was always open to family visiting and staying.
Heila is survived by her husband, daughters, grandson; Jaddison, Brother; Richard (Mary) Lum, Sisters; Elaine Lum, Bernadette (Roy) Lum, Lillian ”Mamo” Jackson and Carol Andrade.
Heila was preceded in death by both her parents, Brothers; Conrad (Rowena) Lum, Landis Jr. (Charla) Lum, Gerald Lum, Robert (Jamie) Lum, Peter (Ginger) Lum, Sister; Kehau (Gay) Ling and Eloise Lum.
Services and interment will be held in Hawaii at a later date.
