Herb married Janida Jane Olson on January 18, 1958. They were married for 46 years.
Herb was born with Hirschsprung’s disease, a colon condition. He should not have lived past childhood. At age 17 a Seattle doctor found a procedure to repair the issue. Herb was a miracle to have lived to the point of surgery at 18 and to be able to have children later in life.
Herb is survived by his two daughters and sons in law, Rene (Dale) Sutton, Janna (Chris) Kinnear, 7 grandchildren, Amanda, Kirsey, Lyssa & Bradley Sutton; Jonathan, Matthew & Justin Kinnear. 5 great grandchildren, Lexi, Maci, David, Isaac and Cadence. Numerous nieces and nephews. Also, his sister in law Connie (Ralph) Seekins and brother in law Roger Olson.
Herb worked for his brother Fred in auto repair, at a gas station, William O. McKay Ford, Clough and ended his mechanic career with his own business for more than 35 years, Ranton Automotive, which he ran out of his home.
For the last 3 and a half years Herb has lived at Rosewood Courte in Edmonds, a memory care home where he was well loved by all the staff. He told Rene he was in a very nice hotel with nice staff and good food. Although he maintained that he didn’t eat breakfast or lunch, which we knew was not true. He has his secret stash of cookies always in the house and some in the garage!
Herb was very active in Gideons International for decades. He would present the Gideons information to churches and was a guest soloist many times in conjunction with sharing the important work of the Gideons.
Support 7 was an organization that was very important to Herb. He took pride in caring for their vehicles.
Herb took his singing to a new level and had 1 record made with just a few songs. It was a prized possession. He was very proud of his model car collection and displayed them throughout the house.
