Jim died at home with his family around him on Friday the 26th of September. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Carolyn, daughter Mare Blocker and husband Buzz White, son Mark Blocker, son John Blocker and wife Sonialyn, Yong Kim and grandsons, James, Michael and his wife Emily, and granddaughters Kristine, Kimberlee and Karen. He leaves behind over 60 nieces and nephews, brothers Edward, Murty, Regis and sister, Joan.
Jim was born and raised in Kansas, and it was there that he developed his love of gardening and sharing the earth’s bounty. He tended a huge garden in the Lake City neighborhood where he lived for over 50 years. Many neighbor kids picked pumpkins with “grandpa,” it gave him great joy to share. He helped others gain mobility and comfort through his work career at Abbey Medical and Apria Health Care.
He was interred at Floral Hills cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 11 at 2 pm at the family home. September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. Remembrances may be made to the Puget Sound Blood Bank.
