Janette was born June 26, 1922 in Waltham, Massachusetts to the late Blanche E. and Joseph M. Trudeau. She was the youngest of three siblings. On October 22, 1944 she married Frank D. Henderson Jr. and started their family 1 year later while she completed school and becoming an LPN. Family was important to Jan; she met the challenges of relocating throughout the U.S. and abroad, during her husband’s tours in the U.S. Navy, with humor and grace. Upon his retirement from the service in 1965, they relaxed into the busy lifestyle of creating and operating a plant nursery for the next twenty years in Shoreline, WA, and then in Edmonds, WA.
She was an active member of St. Thomas More Church and enjoyed many hobbies. She was an award-winning woodcarver, enjoyed lapidary, volunteered at the Edmonds Senior Center, and made frequent trips to Massachusetts to visit her mother, brother, sister and many in-laws, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. She continued her U.S. and worldwide travels with many dear friends.
She is survived by her sons; Frank Henderson III (Mary) of Lynnwood, WA and Scott Henderson (Nina) of Seattle, WA; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Janette was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her sister Rita Veator and brother Henry Trudeau.
A special note of appreciation to Dorothy Burke, Al & Lucy Rad and their staff for their compassionate care of Jan while she resided at their adult family home during her years with Alzheimer’s.
She was greatly loved. Her kind ways and gentle spirit touched many. She will be remembered and held close in the hearts of those she knew and loved.
